Being looked after

Advocate - A friend/older person who will help sort your problems out regarding care.

Care Order - A court makes a Care Order and then Social Services will work with your parents to make important decisions about you - like where you will live and where you will go to school.

Care Plan - A Document which tells you, your carers, your social worker and your parents how you will be looked after while you are in care.

Foster carer - An adult who has been asked to look after you and who you will live with while you are in care.

Independent Visitor - Does not work for Social Services. They listen to what you have to say and will be there to help you sort out any worries or problems.

Keyworker - Will work with you in a children's home or school to help you adjust.

Looked After Children Health Worker - Emma Tanda and Linda Mackay are our looked after children nurses and their job is to make sure that you, your carers and your social worker have the information they need to keep you healthy.

Social Worker - is someone who tries to help chioldren and their families when they have serious problems. They can help to find new parents for children who may need them.
