Some children and young people do not live with foster carers - but in children's homes or schools, with other children and young people.
These homes and schools are run by allkinds of organisations and each one has a different way of doing things. If you are going to be living in a children's home or school, your social worker and the staff at the home or school will explain what happens there when you move in.
You will have a keyworker who will work with you in the home or school. Just like foster carers, all these homes and schools have been checked by social services to make sure that they are safe places to live.
