Foster Care

Most children and young people who are looked after by Social Services live with a foster carer as part of their family.

Your foster carer will help you settle into the family and make sure that you are happy and safe. They will also help you to keep in touch with your own family and friends.

Just like you and your friends, foster carers come in all different shapes and sizes - they may be married, single, black or white. They may even have children of their own.

We will do our best to find a carer who you can fit in with easily - somebody who may be able to understand how you feel and what you need while they are looking after you.

All our foster carers have been checked out by Social Services to make sure that you will be safe and happy with them!

If you are a young person and you want further information about fostering, then you can read the new fostering leaflet that we have produced.

A little boy called Freddy Fisher has written about his fostering experience too.

And if you are a parent and you would like some more information about fostering, then we haven't forgotten you and you can read about fostering too!
