A large percentage of the financial supprot that you receive will depend on the assemment carried out by your social worker and will be written in your Pathway Plan.
If you are 18yrs and attending college you will be entitled to apply for Income Support and Housing Benefit.
You will receive, from the 16+ team, fares to college which are approx £9.00 per week, or the cost of a local bus pass.
You must attend your course for at least 80% of the time or you will lose your entitlement to these payments.
Payments to Former Relevant 19 year olds in Further Education (not university)
We want to support and promote young people in education, whatever their age. When you reach your 19th birthday and are nearing the end of your course we will support you financially until it ends.
This payment will need to be discussed with your social worker and the manager of the 16+ team.
Also, if you plan to start a course at college after your 19th birthday, you will not be entitled to any benefits, therefore this will also need to be discussed with the manager of 16+ team as they will need to agree to support you once you start.
