Who will financially support me?

If you are a young person leaving care aged 16 or 17 and are an Eligible or Relevant young person, and if you are unable to financially support yourself, you still may not be able to claim benefits.

But don't worry Social Services has the main responsibility for meeting your financial needs, such as help with education, training, accommodation and living expenses.

The arrangements for how you will be financially supported will be a part of your Pathway Plan, & either the Resource Panel, or manager of the 16+ team, will have to agreed to these arrangements.

If you are a single parent, have a disability, or are 18yrs and over and unable to financially support yourself, you may be entitled to claim DSS benefits.
